Project Gov.il

A Single, Simple, and Accessible Place for Government Information and Services

Similar to the innovative concepts implemented on various government websites in countries like the UK, USA, Australia, and Canada, the design here focused on enhancing the public's experience when accessing services. One significant improvement was distinguishing between the organizational structure and the categorization of services, making them accessible without requiring an understanding of the often-complex governmental framework, which frequently changes. This approach allows individuals to easily and intuitively find the services and information they need.

Unlike many global government websites, the unified site connects all government offices and major authorities under a single official platform. This posed a significant challenge for the design team, which was successfully overcome, revolutionizing the accessibility of government services. The established standard simplifies information consumption, primarily centralized in one location, allowing for easy cross-referencing and ensuring consistency in the user experience and interface.

Awards and Recognition

The unified website received accolades in the year it launched and the following year, winning IT awards from "People and Computers." The ICT initiative awarded a certificate of excellence to the project team.

User Interface

The website features a flexible user interface comprised of content strips and modules, allowing each office to specify its needs and prioritize its content and services. Offices can choose which modules to use and establish a hierarchy for information display and placement. This interface design fosters a consistent experience for users as they navigate between government offices, service pages, and various information sources, significantly enhancing usability and navigation on the site.

Design Guide

The design and branding guide for the site was created to maintain high design standards and ensure consistency in the user experience. It serves as a foundation for all complementary products associated with the website and the 'Available Government' initiative, including the design language for government forms, applications, and information systems.

It also established the design rules for all government offices whose systems interface with the site or that create materials for their office pages and publications on the unified site.
